Online Marketing Go to Business Index

Online marketing has become one of the most effective methods of creating awareness and increasing sales for many companies, both large and small. But the best way to make the most of it is to own a website. Your website will then do most of your work for you, and then all you have to do is point your marketing to your website.

There are literally hundreds of ways to market your website and products online. The key is to find the proper methods that will benefit you and your company in the best possible manner.

Make your site search engine friendly using (SEO) search engine optimization and take advantage of keyword density based upon words searchers may use to find what you’re promoting. You will obviously need to know the SEO area well, as there are literally millions of websites out there promoting the exact same services or products. In order to be placed top 10 out of all those sites you will need to invest some time or hire someone to do it for you. By ensuring a top 10 placement of your site you are also placing your website into the view of potential buyers quickly and easily.

Many popular search engines, as you may already know, offer sponsored links or pay-per-click links. This is also an extremely useful form of advertisement. With sponsored links you are paying for the search engine to place your site in a specific area of the results, normally at the top and bottom, as in the case of MSN, for optimum exposure.  The same is true with pay-per-click; you are essentially paying the search engine for placement, however, in this case you are agreeing to pay the search engine each time your link is clicked. While this can get expensive, it’s proven to be a reliable source of advertising.

Beyond your website there are many different sites available that will allow you to make use of a link exchange, which is an agreement between you and the webmaster of the other site that you will list a link to each other on your respective websites. Another popular way is creating an advertisement banner which can be used in several ways.

Banners come in all shapes and sizes and are extremely useful in advertising. With a banner you generally purchase advertising space on another site; prices will vary depending upon the site and the location of your advertisement. Top location is ideal for any advertiser, but obviously, consider your budget in the beginning and upgrade as your business grows.  Create a “how did you hear about us” question for your customers so you can monitor the effectiveness of your ads and trim those that do not perform profitably.

Affiliate programs are a very useful way of self-advertisement. By definition affiliate programs are sales generated from another link source. Simply speaking, it is the act of a webmaster registering for your affiliate program then taking one of your banners and placing it upon their own website and paying them a portion of sales that are a direct result of their banner or link placement.
